What Is Google Search Console’s New Generative AI Report?

Google recently rolled out a new report inside Search Console called Generative AI performance. It shows you how often your website’s pages are showing up inside Google’s AI-powered search features — things like AI Overviews and AI Mode — instead of just the traditional blue-link search results you’re used to tracking.

Why This Report Matters for Your Website

For a while now, search results have included AI-generated summaries at the top of the page, pulling information from websites without always sending a click. Until this report existed, there was no way to know whether your site was one of the ones being pulled into those AI answers.

This new report gives you that visibility for the first time — showing which of your pages are being surfaced in AI features, and where those impressions are coming from.

What You Can (and Can’t) See

The report currently tracks:

  • Impressions — how often your pages appeared in AI-generated results
  • Pages — which specific URLs are getting picked up
  • Countries — where that visibility is happening
  • Devices — desktop vs. mobile breakdown (Search results only)
  • Dates — trends over time

Worth noting: it does not yet include clicks, click-through rate, or the actual search queries that triggered the AI response. Google has said more detail may be added as the report matures.

How to Find It in Your Search Console Account

  • Log in to Google Search Console
  • Select your website property
  • In the left-hand menu, look under Performance
  • Click Generative AI (it sits alongside your existing Search results and Discover performance reports)

If your site’s impressions in AI features are very low, the report may show limited or no data.

Does This Replace SEO?
